Valentin Backhaus (*1990) studied media art in Salzburg. Pursuing documentary and conceptual art, the mainstream of his work revolved around photography and installation art. Living and working in Salzburg, he is a member of FOTOHOF Gallery and art collective Atelier ///. In 2018, he received an artist-in-residence scholarship from the State of Salzburg for Paliano(ITA). I. Razio
The project Razio is a documentary photography project about italian planned cities in the region of Lazio. In the late thirties Benito Mussolini built Sabaudia, Littoria (now Latina), Pontinia, Aprilia and Pomezia according to urban concepts and attributed to Italian rationalism. Although If the cities blend harmoniously into nature, one can still feel the ideological root of the cities. (cooperation work with Katrin Froschauer)
